ONFYAH was founded the summer of 2015 when Akinyomi Courtney and Jo'Niece Monk combined their love for African Dance and Drumming. The inspiration to establish  a children's ensemble came from the dynamic duo teaching drumming and dancing throughout the city of Milwaukee. Through their time teaching they noticed their students  were limited to receiving drumming and dancing for a short period of time and the students wanted more. More dancing, more drumming, more art and culture.  Akinyomi and Jo'Niece decidced to dedicate their lives to healing young children through the power of drumming and dancing.  Their vision was to provide children with a positive outlet. The instructors are passionate about their craft and fully commited  to sharing the experience with youth ages 4 - 18.

Our philosophy is inclusive: we have classes that inspire youth to embrace their cultural heritage in a creative way. We're happy to accommodate students of all socio-economic backgrounds and skill levels. Whether you're looking to explore an entirely new hobby, for your child, or wish to renew your child's interest in dance and drum – with ONFYAH you're always in good hands.
